O Hanukkah, O Hanukkah...

Last night we attended a splendiforous, kid-friendly Hanukkah party (because after all, isn't it pretty much about the kids?).

All the children were, for the most part, in two separate age groups - the four year olds and the one year olds. Granted, there were a few stragglers on either side of those ages but that's generally how it broke down.

The four year olds had a WILD AND CRAZY time, running around, playing and in general just enjoying themselves. The one year olds were held, fed, let down to play on occasion and very happy!

The Bird, after her initial shyness spell, walked through that party (like she was in a forest of redwoods) like she owned the place. She was happy with the spoon and the other thing which rotated through her hands the whole night. She laughed at herself, fell a few times, got up and kept going. She flirted and played and had a great time.

The Peanut had a great time too! (she always does). Hanging out with her buddies, running through the house and, best of all, the kids got a visit from a favorite teacher at school who did a special Hanukkah puppet show for them. This teacher really knows these kids and what they like and they gave her their utmost attention for the show. Then she made THEM into puppets and that was filled with giggles and squirms and all around good fun.

I know it was a very special night for the kids. :-)

I have some memories like that from when I was a kid. Pieces and parts of memories from certain holiday parties and birthday parties. The Peanut is four so I know she'll be remembering these things now which is really great and very special.

Thanks to our wonderful hosts - The Latke King and the Hostess with the Mostess. We love you guys!

Party on...
